Director Mel Paszkowski
Originally a film starring Burt Reynolds, it is about a fading Hollywood action movie star who is lured to Stratford to play the part of Shakespeare’s King Lear to rescue his image. The only problem is that he arrives in Stratford St. John, Suffolk, where an amateur dramatic group is trying to save its theatre from developers! What ensues is a clash of personalities, expectations and cultures, a thespian struggle causing a riot of misunderstanding and downright skulduggery.
Ian Hislop, writer, broadcaster, editor of Private Eye and team captain on Have I Got News For You, and his writing partner, Nick Newman, an award-winning cartoonist and writer, have shown how conflicting egos can find redemption through a collaborative art form.
